Mozzarella comes from Southern Italy, traditionally produced in Paestum (Campania) and Foggia (Apulia). Originally made from sheep’s milk, it switched to water buffalo milk in the 16th century. The name “mozzarella” comes from the Italian verb mozzare, meaning “to separate.”
Mozzarella has a fresh, soft, and semi-elastic texture. Known as the queen of Mediterranean cuisine, this Italian product offers floral, mild, milky, and slightly sour notes that delight the palate.
Mozzarella Julienne is finely cut into long, thin strips. This form allows it to melt evenly and blend beautifully into the dish, enhancing the overall flavour.
Use it as a topping for pizzas or baked pasta dishes to create a perfect melt and stretch. It also adds a creamy texture when stirred into risottos or layered in lasagna. For a lighter option, toss it with fresh salads or blend it into appetizers like bruschetta or crostini. Its delicate flavour pairs well with tomatoes, basil, olives, and cured meats.
