Petit Gaugry

(1 customer review)

Weight: 70

Maturation: 4 weeks

Cheese Type: Uncooked, Unpressed cheese with a washed rind

Petit Gaugry is a small Burgudian washed rind cheese.
As its big brother Époisses, it is washed with Marc de Bourgogne while ripening, which lasts for 4 weeks in cool and wet cellars. Petit Gaugry is perfect for a one-person snack.
Its tonic orange rind reveals a creamy, almost runny, texture with a floral scent followed by a fruity, milky and slightly salty taste. Aged, dry nuts and animal notes take the lead.

Wine Pairing:

Red wines (Beaune, Nuits-Saint-Georges)
White wines (Meursault, Chardonnay, Riesling)
Ales (Belgian Dark Ale, India Pale Ale)

Item came in upside down and looked rather melted, thus -1 star.

Delivery standards aside, once you get past the stink of the cheese’s rind, it’s a pleasant and unique experience. The closest taste in Asian perspective would be like cantonese salted fish.
