Comté cheese has been produced for over 2000 years. The earliest records show it was highly valued in ancient Rome, especially by Julius Caesar. Today, Comté boasts the highest production among all French AOC cheeses and is one of our best sellers!
This exceptional Comté is made for the most discerning palates. After aging for 24 months, the cheese loses moisture and develops lovely crystallized amino acid crystals that add a delightful texture and a fine, savoury flavour.
The texture becomes smoother with age, revealing rich, persistent aromas of walnuts, roasted almonds, melted butter, and spices, balanced by soft notes of mature cream. Our 24-month Comté is perfect on a cheese board served with white or black grapes, dried fruits, or nuts, unleashing all its complex aromas.
Store in the refrigerator for up to 5 weeks, and remember to remove it an hour before serving to fully enjoy its intricate flavours.
