In 1911, Long Clawson Dairy’s history began with Thomas Hoe Stevenson, a founding member who ran Mount Pleasant Farm near Melton Mowbray. Alongside his two sisters, they produced Stilton cheese. To secure the cheese’s legacy, Stevenson gathered 11 local partners, and they purchased The Royal Oak, an old pub in Long Clawson, which still serves as the company’s head office today. The cooperative, in operation for over a century, receives milk from 43 farms ensuring future prosperity.
Boasting a smooth, subtly grainy, and luscious texture, this cheese is harmoniously balanced, offering buttery and creamy flavours that linger pleasantly on the palate. The tasting experience concludes with a delightful touch of freshness.
