Born in 2019 in Tuscany, between Siena and Montepulcinao, in the rich land of Castelnuovo dell’Abate, our treasured wine this month is Visconti, Rosso di Montalcino DOC.
Planted 365 meters above sea level, in a limestone rich in stone marl, Montalcino vines produced a medium-bodied and expressive red wine. This 100% Sangiovese grape wine, that confers flavours of cherries, and a feeling of herbal notes, was aged 14-months in oak barrels.
Delightfully balanced with a hint of acidity, Visconti, Rosso di Montalcino ideally pairs with a soft and delicate cheese like Taleggio D.O.P. Cutting through the richness of the cheese, it works its magic effectively with grace and honesty. Such a very supple and refreshing red wine with soft tannins is the right candidate to celebrate Taleggio’s delicate flavours: with care and much respect.
