Boulette d’Avesnes

Weight: 180

“The Boulette d’Avesnes is a bold and historic cheese from the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region, personally selected for its authentic character by Maître Fromager Christian Janier. This cone-shaped cheese, traditionally shaped by hand, is known for its distinctive spicy and tangy flavour profile, a testament to the robust culinary heritage of Northern France.

This fresh, unpressed cow’s milk cheese is mixed with parsley, tarragon, and spices, then repeatedly washed with beer during its affinage. The result is a moist, crumbly texture and a pungent, complex taste that is both spicy, salty, and aromatic.

Traditionally enjoyed as a strong seasoning, it is best used grated or crumbled over dishes like roasted potatoes, in sauces, or spread thinly on hearty rye bread. It pairs powerfully with a robust, malty brown ale or a full-bodied Belgian beer that can stand up to its intensity.

Storage: Keep well-wrapped in the refrigerator. Due to its strong aroma, store it separately from other foods. Consume within 1-2 weeks of purchase.”
