James Suckling: 91/100
Starting from the 2016 vintage, Hubert de Boüard-de-Laforêt, a seasoned winegrower since 1956 and co-owner of Château Angelus – Saint-Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classé A, as well as an oenology consultant for over 80 properties worldwide, embarked on an innovative endeavor. He began producing a range of varietals from his own vineyard plots, bearing his own label. This project aims to establish new standards of excellence for each varietal. The estate enjoys an exceptional geographical location, nestled in the heart of the Right Bank, near the renowned Plateau of Pomerol and a stone’s throw from Saint-Emilion.
The aroma is crisp and fruity, delivering a sense of freshness. It uncovers hints of crisp and juicy peach, fresh peat, and subtle notes of fresh quince, intertwined with delicate undertones of ripe lemon. The palate is fruity, fresh, and harmonious, boasting excellent precision, a mineral backdrop, and finesse. On the palate, this wine offers flavours of ripe and juicy lemon, succulent peach, and subtle nuances of crisp pear, accompanied by slight hints of fresh lychee and a subtle touch of quenette. It concludes with a satisfying length.
It pairs beautifully with shellfish, oysters, veal and creamy goat cheeses.
