Wrapped in chestnut leaves
Produced by Laiterie Col de Bayard, Banon is a traditional French cheese made from goat’s milk. This cheese is distinguished by its unique packaging, as it is traditionally wrapped in chestnut leaves and tied with raffia before being aged.
Banon has a soft, creamy interior with a slightly crumbly texture. It features a mild, tangy flavour that becomes stronger and more complex as the cheese matures.
Perfect for spreading on crusty bread or crackers with a glass of rose wine.
Store Banon in the refrigerator, but remove it an hour or so before serving to allow the flavours to develop. Keep the cheese in its original leaf wrapping until you’re ready to eat it.
Wine Pairing:
Rosé wines (Cotes de Provences)
White wines (Chenin Blanc, Pinot Gris, Muscadet)
Red wines (Bordeaux, Beaujolais, Pinot Noir)
Sparkling wines (Champagne, Prosecco)
