During the Middle Ages the vineyards of Wihr-au-Val already had a reputation for producing high quality wines. Nestled in the heart of the Munster valley, the location fulfilled all the conditions for a brilliant future in the soil of Alsace. Unfortunately, the II World War left nothing but destruction. During the 1970’s, Henri Schoenheitz undertook the rebirth of this lovely vineyard. Today, this estate is recognized in the wine world and has received numerous awards.
The terroir of this Gewurztraminer made of granite gives it a refreshing and dry expression, without giving up on the typical tropical notes of mango, lytchee, and rose.
Powerful, the mouth is frank and pure with intense notes of flowers and spices. The fresh finish brings a perfect balance.
Ideal accompaniment to aperitifs, exotic and spicy dishes and strong cheeses such as Munster, fruit-based or spice-flavoured desserts.
