Arlanza DOP, Gran Lerma, Bodegas Lerma, 2016

Nestled in the historic town of Lerma, Bodegas Lerma is a family-owned winery situated 200 km north of Madrid, along the Arlanza River, a tributary of the renowned Duero River. Oscar Navarro, the youngest family member and winemaker, honors the centuries-old winemaking heritage of the D.O. Arlanza. Alongside his older brothers, Andrés and Daniel, Oscar played a significant role in establishing the Arlanza Denomination of Origin. Their wines elegantly combine fruity notes, subtle wood accents, well-integrated tannins, and distinctive character, all mirroring the region’s rich terroir.

A dark ruby dress, and a palate with earthy and fruity notes, with a fresh feeling in the mouth. 24 months in oak gives this wine quite a piece body though not strong on tannins! Hints of vanilla, black cherry, blackberry, mint, leather and plum notes with slight aromas of tobacco. Finish is long. piece bodied and firm tannins.

This wine complements a variety of cheeses, including Gorgonzola, Brie, Époisses, and also pairs wonderpiecey with chocolate desserts.
