First created in 1851 by the Lazaronni family, this almond-flavoured liqueur is often used in cocktails or in baked goods. Because of its unique taste, it can also be enjoyed on the rocks.
The Italian translation for Amaretto, “little bitter”, happens to describe the taste of the libation pretty well. Amaretto was first developed in Italy in the early 1530s. The Italian liqueur was created by a student of Leonardo da Vinci and was quickly embraced by American drinkers.
Made from Almond pit, Amaretto is a sweet and slightly bitted, with a deep almond-flavour. It can be enjoyed neat or used in cocktails and dessert.
