Cheese Type: Uncooked, Unpressed cheese with a washed rind
Petit Gaugry is a small, characterful washed-rind cheese from Burgundy, made from raw cow’s milk.
Like its famous relative Époisses, it is carefully washed with Marc de Bourgogne during its 3 to 4 weeks of maturation in cool, humid cellars. This process develops its distinctive bright orange rind and rich aroma.
Ideal as a snack for one or two, Petit Gaugry reveals a creamy, almost runny texture beneath its tonic orange rind. It offers a delicate floral scent followed by a balanced flavour profile combining fruity, milky, and slightly salty notes. As it ages, hints of dry nuts and subtle animal undertones emerge, adding complexity.
Enjoy Petit Gaugry on its own, with fresh bread, or paired with a young red Burgundy or a dry white wine for a true taste of Burgundy’s cheese heritage.
Wine Pairing:
Red wines (Beaune, Nuits-Saint-Georges)
White wines (Meursault, Chardonnay, Riesling)
Ales (Belgian Dark Ale, India Pale Ale)

2 reviews for Petit Gaugry
Rain Goh –
Item came in upside down and looked rather melted, thus -1 star.
Delivery standards aside, once you get past the stink of the cheese’s rind, it’s a pleasant and unique experience. The closest taste in Asian perspective would be like cantonese salted fish.
