Eastern Scheldt

Mussels (Chilled)

Weight: 1400

Comes fresh, can be frozen for longer conservation. Weight may vary +/-10%.

Harvested from the pristine waters of the North Sea, these Dutch mussels are renowned for their plump, tender texture and naturally briny, slightly sweet flavour. The Netherlands has a long tradition of mussel farming, ensuring sustainable practices that maintain their exceptional quality year-round.

Perfect for classic dishes like moules marinières, they pair wonderfully with white wine, garlic, and fresh herbs. For a heartier option, try them with cream or a touch of spice.

Simple Cooking Guide:
1. Rinse the mussels briefly under cold water and discard any with broken shells or that remain open when tapped.
2. In a large pot, sauté finely chopped shallots and garlic in butter or olive oil until softened.
3. Add a generous splash of dry white wine and bring to a simmer.
4. Add the mussels, cover, and steam over high heat for 5-7 minutes until the shells have opened.
5. Discard any mussels that remain closed. Stir through fresh parsley and serve immediately with crusty bread.

Enjoy these mussels with a crisp Chablis or a dry Sauvignon Blanc, which enhances their fresh, oceanic flavours. Store them in the refrigerator and consume within two days for the best taste.
