Mont d’Or

Weight: 500

Maturation: minimum 21 days

Cheese Type: Unpressed, Uncooked soft cheese with a washed rind

Mont d’Or is a seasonal cheese exclusively sold between 10 September and 10 May

Mont d’Or is a cherished cheese from the Jura region of France, named after the highest peak in the Jura mountains. Its lightly washed rind develops a beautiful yellow to orange hue, while the inside boasts a creamy, almost runny texture with delightful buttery and woody notes.

For a truly indulgent treat, try baking it! Simply make a cross-cut in the rind, insert a halved garlic clove (to infuse amazing flavor), and pour in a splash of dry white wine. Place the Mont d’Or in its wooden box into the oven at 180°C for 10 to 15 minutes. When bubbles start to form on top, it’s ready to enjoy! Serve with potatoes, fresh salad, pickles, and cold cuts for an unforgettable meal.

Store in its original box in the refrigerator and consume within a few days to appreciate its full freshness.
