Melon Charentais, from Spain

Weight: 800

Honeyed, floral and perfumed. One sniff transports you to a summer garden in July. The flesh is deep salmon-orange, so soft it nearly drinks itself. Juice drips down your chin with every spoonful. Intoxicating rosewater and ripe pear notes. No stringiness, no watery center—just pure, dense sweetness.

Grown in La Mancha’s arid soil, where intense sun and cool nights concentrate sugars naturally. Spanish farmers have cultivated Charentais since the 1920s, protecting heirloom seeds. Hand-picked at peak ripeness—rarely exported because they spoil in days. A fleeting treasure.

Serve chilled in thin slices with prosciutto or Serrano ham. Drizzle with elderflower liqueur or aged balsamic. Scatter with mint and black pepper. Pair with fino sherry, Albariño, or dry rosé. Pure bliss over a sink.
