Grand Ormeau, a small wine estate, shares the history of Lalande-de-Pomerol wines. By 1874, Grand Ormeau wines had already earned a solid reputation among ‘Crus bourgeois’ and ‘1er artisans,’ as noted in the esteemed Féret guide. In 1988, when Jean-Claude Beton assumed ownership of Château Grand Ormeau, he embarked on extensive restoration efforts in the vineyards and winery, with the guidance of renowned consultant winemaker Michel Rolland. In 2017, a new team took the reins and has since strived to build upon past achievements.
Its intense red dress offers an expressive and generous fruity nose, with slight aromas of kirchée cherry, spices, and liquorice. The nose follows on the palate with frank aroma of black and red fruits, supple round tannins and a structured body with a good intensity and a long persistence.
This wine is at its best with red meat, game, cheese, and chocolate desserts.
