Emmental Grand Cru Est-Central

Weight: 200g

Cheese Type: Cooked, Pressed

Originating in the heart of eastern France, Emmental Grand Cru is a historic raw-milk cheese crafted according to strict traditional rules using only small-scale mountain dairies. Recognized by its protected geographical status, this noble cheese is aged for months in cool cellars, allowing natural fermentation to form its iconic large openings, known as the “eyes” of the cheese.

Underneath its smooth, golden-yellow rind lies a firm yet remarkably supple, ivory paste. It offers a fragrant bouquet of warm pasture hay, toasted hazelnuts, and sweet cream. On the palate, it delivers a delicate balance of mild, fruity undertones, buttery richness, and a subtle, satisfying nuttiness that melts beautifully with every bite.

Emmental Grand Cru is delicious enjoyed on its own with crusty sourdough bread, sliced into fresh salads, or melted into classic dishes like traditional French onion soup and fondue. It pairs wonderfully with a crisp white wine from Alsace or the Jura, or a light, fruity Pinot Noir.
