Halloumi Petrou

Weight: 200g

Maturation: Minimum 1 months

Halloumi Petrou is a traditional Cypriot cheese made from a blend of sheep’s and goat’s milk, and sometimes cow’s milk. This semi-hard, brined cheese is known for its firm texture, bright white colour and pleasantly salty taste. Its flavour is fresh and gently savoury, with delicate grassy, citrus and minty notes that reflect its Mediterranean character. Halloumi Petrou pairs particularly well with sweet, juicy watermelon during the summer, creating a wonderfully refreshing contrast between the salty cheese and the fruit’s natural sweetness.

Thanks to its high melting point, Halloumi Petrou is ideal for grilling, barbecuing or pan-searing. Slice the cheese and cook it over medium heat for 2–3 minutes on each side, until it develops a beautiful golden crust while remaining soft and pleasantly chewy inside. Serve it warm in salads, grain bowls or flatbreads, or accompany it with watermelon, fresh mint and a drizzle of olive oil for a simple and delicious Mediterranean-inspired dish.

Keep refrigerated and store submerged in its brine until ready to consume.
